Carrie Underwood likes to "Cry Pretty"

"Cry Pretty" is Carrie Underwood's sixth studio album which has a more mature theme throughout. This country singer is enjoying her award winning career with selling more than 16 million albums. 

Carrie Underwood's time tested success of tapping into what was in the heart of fans she continues. It is assuredly lovely to hear that we country music fans still have a couple of radio friendly female solo

artists. It sad to know that the radio waves have fallen drastically for radio play of these female country artists...which is a shame since the issue is not the lack of talented female singers releasing music it is focusing on more commercial and younger singers; Sara Evans, Lee Ann Womack, Pam Tillis, Lorrie Morgan are top notch singers that have great music out...radio stations are just not willing to play! It is a shame...I will digress and cover that in it's own article. 


Following a facial injury which lend itself to several months of Carrie's seclusion she returned to her musical love and told her fans of this new album. Carrie is showcasing a much more mature sound through the vocals, music choices and the messages she is sending. Do not get me wrong the final 4 tracks of the album are more toe-tapping, pop sounding. 

Tracks such as; "Drinking Alone" "That Song That We Used to Make Love To" and "Backsliding" are much more complicated in their messages and sound. These are not the feel good, pop dancing songs though these are truly album highlights. These songs like "Cry Pretty" along with "The Bullet" are strong anthems that even though Carrie Underwood has always tried to steer clear of being political the song "The Bullet" send a loud and clear message of this singer's stance on gun control.  I applaud this singer for doing something out of her comfort zone that may get the historically red and conservative country music fans aggravated but is important in this day and age. Take a listen and you will enjoy the treat of "Cry Pretty"

Sara Evans wants to be on a "Marquee Sign!"

Sara Evans - the country star has released a brand new album entitled; "Words" and the first single being "Marquee Sign" is a hit. This single and the music video leaves you no doubt that Sara has a strong message of how powerful and ex flame can be and what that person puts you through. One can tell that Sara is a survivor and holds strong with such verses:  "If you woulda been lit up like a marquee sign, I coulda saved myself some wasted time," This album is the first release in three years and once again will provide number one hits and continues her country roots with classics. Shania Twain is "Now!"

Shania Twain - one of the Queen's of Country is returning back to the musical scene with a brand new very long awaited album entitled; "Now." This is the first studio album since "Up!" which was released in 2002 so needless to say 15 years is long enough for fans to be ready for new material.

Marie Osmond says "Music Is Medicine!"

Marie Osmond - releases her first country album this year titled; "Music Is Medicine." The last time Marie released a country album was her "Steppin'  Stones" in 1989. It has been twenty-six years since her last country album to her current and it is about time!

A lot in Marie's life has changed since her last album, dealing with depression, suicide of her son, divorce and re-marriage to her first husband. That is a lot for anyone person to deal with and Marie comes out of it stronger and her music being released and being #10 it's first week, now that is great! That tells me there are plenty of HUGE fans of Marie Osmond whom were also waiting for what seemed forever new material.

"Music Is Medicine" lent Marie to collaborate with very noteworthy singers such as Olivia Newton-John, Sisqo, John Rich and others. The album is not a compilation of re-imagined songs of either her old material or others, it is actually the opposite. "Music Is Medicine" allowed Marie to experiment with a new producer and have a fresh sound. I highly suggest to buy this album for you and a loved one whom will love it. Dolly Parton is; "Pure & Simple!"

Dolly Parton - undoubtedly one of the original Queen's Of Country is out with a brand new album entitled; Pure & Simple. It is amazing that this diva is at 70 years young and is as busy as ever. One of the finest ladies out there is also doing an international tour in support of her new album with stops in the United States and all over the globe.  

Dolly has been a trail blazer in her long treasure trove of albums spanning from her single at a young age in the 1950's to the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s! With her down to earth personality it is easy for anyone to fall in love with this star that is shinning bright. It is truly a breath of fresh air that when one listen's to Dolly's new album that her vocals are intact with nothing slowing her and her tunes down!

The album; Pure & Simple takes us on a lovely journey that only Dolly can do. From "Say Forever You'll Be Mine" where she connects wonderfully with the listener and taking them on the exact journey of where the song is to take you. Instrumentation as always is wonderfully captured within this track along with another; "Pure and Simple." "Kiss It (And Make It All Better)" is a track that has a lot of emotion where it speaks to all and similar to another song on the album; "Never Not Love You" where it is a vow from one person to love someone else. These songs make the listener connect to Dolly and the pain and passion she exudes through her vocals which is simply perfection.

There are toe tapping tracks such as; "Can't Be That Wrong" which is a song of guilt and doubt over cheating on a partner. Another two lovely songs are; "Outside Your Door" and "I'm Sixteen" which are both going to leave you uplifted. It has to go without saying there are only a few real alive singers that are truly Country Legends such as Dolly along with Loretta Lynn. This album marks over 40 albums that Dolly has released and as we all can assuredly say with out a doubt we look forward to yet more albums and projects from this Queen of Country; Dolly Parton!

Loretta Lynn goes "Full Circle"

Loretta Lynn - the 83 years young country music icon and living legend has released her long awaited new album entitled; "Full Circle" which is currently out now. This album is the first for Loretta in 12 years and has been long awaited from her fans (such as myself).

"Full Circle" continues Loretta's powerful messages being penned and left as a truly inspirational gift to us the listeners. One can hear the true ache in her voice when singing the track; "Who's Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone?" The album is a true gift to all fans. If you are also a fan of Loretta's then one will have to watch the PBS American Masters documentary entitled; "Loretta Lynn: Still a
Mountain Girl. This documentary is a perfect pairing to the new album that also shows the heartaches and life experiences that Loretta endured from her childhood to her arrival in Nashville, TN where she became fast best friend's with another legend Patsy Cline. The lesson's that Loretta to this day has taken from Patsy Cline and her knack to just say it like it is with such groundbreaking songs like "The Pill" "Fist City" "One's on the Way" "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin'" "Rated X" "Wine Women and Song" "Miss Being Mrs." "Out of my Head and Into My Bed" and countless others have solidified this country singer as one of the true first ladies. There was and is nothing taboo and what you see is what you get both on and offstage. Right down to it Loretta is a true genuine lady of country whom set a new tone for the genre which will never see another like her.




"Full Circle" in its entirety is full of gems with nothing consisting of zero fillers. All are ready to be a hit single for Loretta. Some of my favorites are; "Lay Me Down" (such amazing vocals with Loretta and Willie Nelson), "Everything It Takes," "Whose Gonna Miss Me?"

Loretta additionally does wonderful covers of songs such as; "Always On My Mind" (which was made famous by Willie Nelson and Elvis Presley) along with "Secret Love" (made famous by Doris Day). Also, Loretta retools a famous song she previously recorded on this album; "Fist City." I am certain that this album will receive praise as it deserves with accolades from the Grammy's and more. It is fascinating to hear upon recording this album Loretta recorded a reportedly 100 tracks with most done within one take. The trio that were on this project along Loretta were one of her twin daughter's Patsy Lynn Russell and John Carter Cash (another from a famous family June Carter & Johnny Cash). This album; "Full Circle" from Loretta Lynn is another soon to be classic and showcases once again exactly why this lady is and always will be a queen of country!
