What made you get into the music industry?
Destiny =) Haha I just always had a passion for music. Love to sing, Love to write, Love to perform… but most of all I wanted to give people that same escape and feeling that good music gives me.
What was your first gig?
Jeez… I’m not sure exactly. Lol probably a house party back in high school.
What was your first milestone as a musical artist?
I would have to say performing live on MTV. It let me know that I had it in me to perform on such a big stage.
What is it like getting into the music industry?
I’m not really sure how to answer that. Making the decision to go after your dream in the music industry is really a leap of faith. Believing that you have what it takes to be successful. And then trying to become successful in the music industry is like trying to figure out how to break into the most advanced bank vault, even though you are not really sure where the bank keeps it.
Who are some of the artists that are part of your “dream list” that you would love to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with as many talented artists as I can to give me a chance to make all different kinds of great music and to learn from each one of them.
Tell us about your current project you are working on.
I am releasing my current single LoveSong which is a remake of The Cure, as well as some original tracks to follow. They all have an Electro feel with some elements of Dub Step and Hip Hop.
Where do you draw upon for inspiration when writing new material?
What would you tell up and coming artists that are trying to get into the industry?
Just to stay positive and motivated. Never let someone’s negative opinion get to you. Learn as much as you can about how the music industry works. Don’t get overwhelmed. Focus on one thing at a time. Don’t try to please everyone. Make the music that is in your heart and soul. And if this is what you really want to do, never ever give up.
Tell us about meeting Rank Frizzo aka “The Mavrik" (Producer) who you collaborate with and how your success together has worked so well.
I met him my freshmen year of high school. We seemed to have a lot in common, especially a love and passion for music so we clicked right off the bat. Not only did we become best friends, but we developed a musical chemistry together that is hard to explain or deny.
Tell us about how you came about writing “Alive” one of your latest singles.
That song was actually written by one of my best friends in the days right after my Father had past away. After hearing it we both decided that I should record it.
Your version of “Love Song” from the 80’s group The Cure is hot, what made you look at covering this track is there any emotional significance and story?
Why thank you. =) Haha I just have always loved that song and I wanted to bring it into today’s dance music world so that new listeners could fall in love with the song all over again.
How do you choose cover tracks to sing?
Oh idk they kinda choose me. =)
When people listen to music from Richie Arci, what do you want them to remember about your music?
That it gave them goose bumps. =)
How would you want someone to describe a Richie Arci concert when seeing you live to others?
Like the sickest rollercoaster ride they have ever been on.
Who are some of your role models inside and out of the music industry and why?
My Mother has always been a role model to me. She has been such a hard working single mom for as long as I can remember, and no matter how hard things got she would never give up and always find a way to get things done. She has a really big heart and is a really great person that has instilled many values and principles into me.
What are some of the lessons that you have learned thus far in the music business?
Trust your gut, not everything that people tell you. Don’t try to be like someone else, just be yourself. And don’t try to please everyone.
Is there a dream venue for you to perform at, why?
Definetly the Meadowlands and Madison Square Garden because those are the venues closest to my home and the places where I would go to concerts and sit in the crowd dreaming of the day when I would get to be the one up on the stage.
